All about van insurance

Are you looking for the best way to insure your van? As a business owner, your van may be indispensable. Especially if you use it daily to perform your work. That is why you can insure your van via Geennee.nl you can always take out delivery van insurance with De Vereende. Where regular insurers often give up insuring a delivery van, because of the increased risk of damage, you can go with De Vereende.

Van insurance with van insurance

You can insure your van with a van insurance policy. Van insurance is special insurance for a van. A van obviously differs from a passenger car, especially in its type of use. Whereas a passenger car is made to transport people, a van is specifically for transporting goods. Hence, it also has a cargo area. For an insurer, this in turn carries different risks. This is why a distinction is made between passenger car insurance and van insurance. If the van has a maximum loaded weight higher than 3,500 kg, it is referred to as a truck. Do you have a van? Then we are happy to help you find the best van insurance.

Why insure a van?

You are required by law to have at least third-party insurance for your van. With third-party van insurance, you are insured for damage you cause to another person. This means that if you or an employee causes an accident with the van, the other party can recover the damage from your car insurance. With only WA van insurance, damage to your van is not covered. For this you need to take out comprehensive coverage, such as WA + Limited Casco or Allrisk.

What does van insurance cover?

When insuring your van, you have a choice of three different coverages for your van insurance:

  • WA
  • WA + Limited Casco
  • All-risk

WA van insurance is the minimum coverage you should take out. This covers liability damages. However, you can also opt for more extensive coverage. An addition to the compulsory third-party insurance is the WA + Limited Casco. This covers damage to your van caused by fire, storm, theft or broken windows, among other things. With a WA or WA + Limited Casco coverage, damage to your van due to your own fault is not compensated. For this you need an all-risk van insurance. This is the most complete insurance.

Compare van insurance

Insuring a van starts with comparing van insurance. When you start comparing, you need to fill out a few things in our online comparison tool. Based on this information, we can make a proper comparison. These are the following details:

  • Van registration number
  • Report code; These are the last four digits of the chassis number
  • Residence or place of business
  • The date of birth of the regular driver
  • What you will use the van for
  • How many miles you will drive the van
  • Any accumulated claim-free years

Van insurance business

Do you use the van for your own business, do you have a company van or does the car have a gray license plate? Then you must insure your van for business use. Business use of a delivery van includes goods transport, courier services, paid passenger transport, a garage, a leasing company or a driving school. If you use the delivery van exclusively for business purposes, you can apply for a 'statement of exclusively business use of delivery van'. In that case, you may not use the van for private purposes.

Van insurance private

Do you have a van, but you are not a business owner or the van is not in your company's accounts? In that case, you use the van exclusively for private purposes. In that case, you do not need to insure the car for business use and can take out private car insurance. Commuting to work falls under private use of the car. Even if you use the van occasionally for business purposes, you can indicate that you drive privately when purchasing car insurance.

Van insurance ZZP

As a ZZP'er you can take out private or business van insurance. Even as a ZZP'er, you are required to take out at least third-party insurance. You can also take out additional insurance. If you take out business van insurance, the van is in your company's name. If you insure your van privately, it will be in your own name. Perhaps you are a caterer and you use your van to transport food. Or maybe you work as a self-employed person in construction and the van is used primarily for transporting building materials. Whatever you use the van for, of course you want to be properly insured.

Delivery van insurance courier service

Do you use your van for courier services? Then you can insure your van via Alpina.nl. Using a privately insured car as a courier is cheaper in insurance. Still, we advise against it. It is questionable whether the insurer will cover you in case of damage. There can be a big problem if, in case of damage, it appears that the car was used in a different capacity than the insured capacity. With our courier insurance, you can tailor your (van) car insurance for courier services so that it perfectly suits your business situation.

Cheapest van insurance

Although the cost of van insurance through De Vereende is higher than that of regular van insurance, the advantage is that you will almost always be accepted. Keep in mind that you must pay the premium at least 3 months in advance. This applies even if you opt for monthly payment. In most cases De Vereende also charges a deposit of € 175,-. Do you not pay the premium on time? Then De Vereende can use this deposit to settle the unpaid premium. If you pay every month on time, the deposit is returned to you at the termination of the insurance.
