How do I gain access to Roy Data?

If you have a current car insurance policy, you build up claim-free years by not claiming car damage from the insurer. Each year that you do not claim any damage, you climb 1 step on the bonus malus ladder. The higher you are on the bonus malus ladder, the more premium discount you will receive. If you have many years without claims, your car insurance will be a lot cheaper. Insurers have access to your claim-free years. These are recorded in the Roy Data database. Every insurer has access to Roy Data, but can you access Roy Data yourself? On Geennee.nl we explain it to you.

Roy Data, what exactly is that?

Until September 1, 2007, you received a termination notice from the insurer after terminating a car insurance policy. This statement stated the claim-free years you had accumulated during the term of your car insurance. When taking out a new car insurance policy, you had to prove your claim-free years with an expiration statement. In 2007, however, a switch was made to a central, digital database: Roy Data. The database is managed by the EPS Foundation (Efficient Processes Claims Insurers). When you terminate your car insurance, the insurer puts your accumulated claim-free years in Roy Data. When you take out a new car insurance policy, the new insurer consults Roy Data. That way they know how many claim-free years you have, allowing them to award the correct premium discount.

This is how you get online access to Roy Data

You can request access to your Roy Data records online through the EPS Foundation website. You can get access to your Roy Data registration by filling in the inspection right form. You only need to fill in a number of personal details and add a copy of your identification document. After submitting the form, you will not get immediate access to your data. In general, it may take up to 28 days.

Good to know is that the registered data is not always current. Claim-free years are only entered into Roy Data when a car insurance policy is terminated. The claim-free years you have accumulated during the term of your car insurance are not yet registered if the car insurance is still active. Is your car insurance still running and are you curious how many claim-free years you have accumulated? Then you can ask your insurer. They are also listed on the policy document that you receive annually from the insurer.

What should I do if my information is incorrect?

If after inspection it appears that your data in Roy Data is not correct, you can contact the insurer that registered these claim-free years. The insurer in question can then adjust the incorrect claim-free years. There is no point in contacting Stichting EPS for this purpose. EPS cannot and may not adjust claim-free years.
