How can I view Roy Data?
Your claim-free years are registered in the Roy Data database. Claim-free years are years in which you have not claimed any damage from your car insurer. Every year that you do not claim any damage, you build up one claim-free year. As long as you do not make any claims with your insurer, you build up claim-free years during the term of your car insurance. With these claim-free years you receive a premium discount on your car insurance. The more claim-free years you build up the more premium discount you will receive. When you take out a new car insurance you have to fill in the claim-free years. Are you not sure how many claim-free years you have? You can check this information in Roy Data. On GeenNee.nl we explain how you can do that.
View claim-free years in Roy Data
Roy Data is the central database of Stichting EPS. Here your claim-free years are registered. In the past, claim-free years were demonstrated with an exoneration statement. An expulsion statement is a written document that the insurer gives you after termination of the car insurance. Since 1 September 2007 insurers work with a digital system: Roy Data. When you cancel your car insurance, the insurer will enter your accumulated claim-free years in Roy Data. When you take out a new car insurance, the new insurer will consult Roy Data for your claim-free years. They will then add these to your new policy. This is not possible with the claim-free years of an existing car insurance. All insurers have access to Roy Data. You can also see your claim-free years in Roy Data.
How do I know how many claim-free years I have?
Your insurer is obliged to let you know annually how many claim-free years you have. Your accrued claim-free years are therefore stated on the policy schedule that you receive every year. You can also request your claim-free years from your car insurer or intermediary. Claim-free years built up during a current car insurance policy are not yet visible in Roy Data. This is because claim-free years are only put into Roy Data after termination of the insurance. Until that time they are part of your current car insurance. For these claim-free years you can contact your current insurer.
Previous claim-free years can be viewed in Roy Data. To do so, you can submit a request via the website of Stichting EPS. There you will find the right of inspection form. You should send this, together with a copy of your proof of identity, digitally. You will not be given immediate access to the data. It often takes a while before the application is processed. In most cases, this takes a maximum of 28 days.
How long can I access my data in Roy Data?
Claim-free years are not valid indefinitely. After cancelling your car insurance, your claim-free years are valid for another 3 years with most insurers. This differs per insurer. With some insurers this is only 2 years, with others 4 or even 5 years. Always check how many claim-free years are valid with your insurer when you take out your car insurance. This way you know how long your claim-free years will remain in the Roy Data register.
