Roy Data is not correct: what can I do?

Damage-free years are important when buying auto insurance. Moreover, they affect the amount of the premium. The more claim-free years you have, the more premium discount you get. And that means that your car insurance becomes more advantageous! Your claim-free years are registered by the insurer, after ending your car insurance, in Roy Data. For taking out a new car insurance it is important that the correct number is registered in Roy Data. The new insurer will check in Roy Data how many claim-free years you have and bases the premium discount on this. Is the number of claim-free years in Roy Data not correct? Then it is possible that your previous insurer registered the wrong number of claim-free years. In this article on Geennee.nl we tell you what you can do if your registration in Roy Data is not correct.

What data is actually in Roy Data?

The Roy Data database records your claim-free years. Claim-free years are the years that you have not claimed any damage with your insurer. For each claim-free year you climb 1 step on the bonus malus ladder. The higher you climb the bonus malus ladder, the more discount you receive on your premium. Having or not having claim-free years therefore makes a big difference for car insurance. By driving damage-free, you can build up a discount between 70 and 80% with most insurers. That makes a big difference in the monthly cost of car insurance.

Data in Roy Data is not always correct

The data in Roy Data is not always current. Damage-free years are only registered when an insurance policy is terminated. Claim-free years that you have built up during a current car insurance policy are therefore not yet registered. It is therefore possible that in the meantime you have accumulated more claim-free years than are recorded in Roy Data. Have you already claimed damage with your new car insurance policy? Then you might have fallen back on the ladder and have less claim-free years. So keep this in mind when you request your Roy Data data.

How can I retrieve my data?

Damage-free years of a current car insurance policy can be obtained from your current insurer. These data are not yet registered in Roy Data. The insurer always mentions the number of claim-free years on the policy document you receive every year. If you want to see previous claim-free years you can request them on the EPS website. To do so, use the right of inspection form. After sending the form, it may take a while before you receive your claim-free years. In most cases this takes a maximum of 28 days.

How can I adjust it if Roy Data is not correct?

Do you suspect that your data in Roy Data is incorrect? Then you can contact the insurer who registered these free years in Roy Data. This is the insurer of the car insurance you last terminated. After consultation, the insurer can then adjust the incorrect number. There is no point in contacting Stichting EPS about this. This is because Stichting EPS cannot and may not adjust claim-free years. You should therefore always report incorrect data to the insurer concerned.
