What is the Roy Data registry?
The Roy Data register is the central database of the EPS Foundation (Efficient Processes Claims Insurers). You used to demonstrate claim-free years with a cancellation statement. You received this paper statement from your insurer after terminating your car insurance. Since September 1, 2007, however, insurance companies have switched to a digital system. When you then take out a new car insurance policy, your new insurer consults the Roy Data register to see how many claim-free years you have. This allows them to link them to your new policy.

Claim-free years in the Roy Data register
During the term of your car insurance, your claim-free years are "fixed. You cannot use them for another insurance policy. After termination of the insurance, the accumulated claim-free years are released. The insurer then registers them in Roy Data. This way you can use the claim-free years for a new car insurance. Keep in mind that claim-free years do not remain valid indefinitely. After canceling your car insurance your claim-free years are valid for 3 years with most insurers. This differs per insurer. With some insurers this is only 2 years, but with others again 4 or even 5 years. So always check when taking out your car insurance how long claim-free years are valid with your insurer. So you know how long your claim-free years remain in the Roy Data register.

How does requesting my data from the Roy Data registry work?
You can access your data in the Roy Data registry through the EPS Foundation website. However, the data is not always up to date. Damage-free years are only entered in Roy Data when your car insurance is terminated. If you still have a car insurance policy, the claim-free years you have accrued during that period are not yet registered. You can request these from your current insurer. They can also be found on the policy schedule of your insurance policy.
Requesting your data in Roy Data is as follows: you fill out the right of inspection form on the EPS Foundation website. You only need to fill in your personal data and a copy of a valid ID. Then you send the form. After sending the form, it may take a while before you receive your claim-free years. In most cases, this takes up to 28 days.
My information is not correct, how do I update it?
Have you viewed your data in the Roy Data register, but suspect it is incorrect? Then you can contact the insurer that registered the claim-free years. The insurer can then adjust the incorrect claim-free years. There is no point in contacting Stichting EPS for this purpose. EPS cannot and may not adjust claim-free years. You should therefore always report incorrect data to the insurer in question.
